“How exactly do I get my Residential Builders License?” In order to obtain your Michigan Residential Builders License, you must complete the following 3 steps…
Complete 60 hours of approved prelicensure courses
Submit a completed application to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
Successfully complete the Residential Builder or Maintenance & Alteration Contractor examination (PSI)
When submitting your application, you must include a copy of the official certificate of completion from your prelicensure courses, which is provided by the Detroit Training Center. Your application can then be submitted through the LARA website and the state exam will be conducted through PSI Exams.
Testing Fee to PSI EXAMS - $117
Lara Application Fee - $195
*To receive your certificate of completion, you must pass the exam at the end of the course with a minimum score of 90 out of 120*
