Blight Removal Training Program
This program is designed to offer students a way into the Blight Removal Industry that will be growing dramatically in the next few years in Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Pontiac, and other cities. This unique selection of courses will prepare the worker for the rigors of the job, and give them licensing and credentials that they will need to succeed in the workplace.
Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program
The Detroit Training Center’s Equipment Operator Training Courses provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient in the use of heavy equipment and powered industrial trucks on construction and landscaping projects. Students will receive lecture-based instruction to develop general knowledge on the equipment prior to attending hands-on instruction where they will have the opportunity to driving the equipment.
Construction Career Track Program
The Construction Career Track Training Program is designed to prepare students to work in the construction industry. Participants will be introduced to different trades and careers in the construction industry. In-depth lecture and textbook materials will cover general construction safety, use of Personal Protective Equipment, proper construction attire, and tool identification. The hands-on segment includes tool use, safety, and the completion of a class project.
Skilled Construction Laborer Training Program
Students who graduate from the Skilled Construction Laborer Training Program will have the licenses and skills required to immediately enter the construction workforce. The number of available jobs in construction is growing rapidly due to the current projects under way in SE Michigan. This program offers an opportunity for those enrolled to gain knowledge about safety and the construction industry.
Deconstruction Training Program
The Deonstruction Training Program is designed to prepare students to work in the deconstruction industry. Participants will be introduced to the concepts of safety and material salvage. In-depth lecture and textbook materials will cover general construction safety, use of Personal Protective Equipment, proper construction attire, and tool identification. The hands-on segment includes the actual deconstruction of a Detroit house.
Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Training Program
The Commercial Drivers License (CDL)Training Program is designed for students who are looking to work as a commercial driver. Employment with this license can vary from Over the Road (OTR) jobs, local delivery driver positions, and driver positions for Construction, Landscape, and Facility Maintenance Contractors.

Facility Maintenance Professional Training Program
In the Facility Maintenance Professional Training Program students will learn safety, communication, professionalism, team participation, time allocatin, customer service, and problem solving.
The hands on components of this training program include the use of full personal protective equipment as well as the equipment required to conduct facility maintenance operation, from auto scrubbers to buffers to chemical cleaning products.
Computer Training Program
The Detroit Training Center’s Computer Training Courses is designed to give students the computer knowledge, critical thinking skills, and self-sufficiency required to build a career in any industry. Knowledgeable instructors will show students the ins and outs of today’s hardware and software. Strong emphasis will be placed on developing analytical skills so that students can solve today’s most frequently encountered computer problems.
