Commercial Driver’s License- Class A Training Program

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires all drivers who operate a commercial motor vehicle to possess a commercial drivers license (CDL).  DTC CDL A Program provides the knowledge and skill necessary to obtain this license.  Our program consists of classroom instruction and hands-on training in preparation to pass the written and road portion of the CDL exam.  Training will be provided by state certified instructors who are CDL holders with industry experience. 

Hands-on training includes straight line backing, left and right offset backing, 90 degree alley docking, coupling and uncoupling of trailers, Pre-Trip Inspection and on the road training.

Monday - Friday

8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Nights & Weekends Program

14 weeks

Monday - Thursday

4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Saturday

8:00 am - 4:00 pm

$6,000.00 (Includes testing/licensing fees)

Program Requirements

  • 18 Years of Age

  • Current & Valid driver’s License

  • Call before enrolling with DTC - Michigan Department of State CDL Eligibility Hotline (517) 636-7474

  • Obtain DOT Physical, Inclusive of Drug Screen

  • MUST BE A LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT OF THE U.S. OR HAVE A CURRENT VALID VISA OR WORK PERMIT TO WORK IN THE U.S.

A Non Refundable deposit of $500 is required when this contract is signed, Half payment is due by cash, check money order or credit card must be made by the first day of class. Full payment is required 1 week prior to the expected graduation date.

Students who withdraw before the first 40 hours of instruction will receive a refund of Tuition paid minus $1000

Students who withdraw after 40 hours and before 80 hours of instruction will receive a refund of Tuition Paid minus $2000.

No refunds will be given to students who withdraw after 80 hours of instruction.
